Michael Emans

Michael Emans is the founder of Tartan Whistle Dog Training and a highly experienced dog trainer with a background as both a military and police dog handler.

Throughout his career, he has worked with protection dogs, explosive detection dogs, and search dogs in operational environments, developing a strong understanding of canine behaviour and performance.

Following his service, Michael continued working with dogs in several UK police forces before transitioning into helping everyday dog owners. His focus is on practical, one-on-one training that improves behaviour and builds a better relationship between owner and dog.

Michael believes that effective training comes from understanding the dog in front of you. His approach is balanced, clear, and tailored to each individual dog and owner, helping to create lasting results rather than quick fixes.

Today, through Tartan Whistle Dog Training, he works with a wide range of breeds and behaviour issues — from basic obedience through to more complex behavioural challenges.
